The client's requirements included the integration of a meeting/kitchen pavilion and a pool into this single-family residential project.

The scheme is resolved through the East-West placement of an elongated exposed concrete volume parallel to the pool and perpendicular to the pavilion. This configuration creates a dialogue between the existing and the new, generating an outdoor space that links all outdoor activities into a main common area.

All ground floor program spaces are located along the glazed Northen facade of the volume with views to the pool and pavilion and maximizing daylight exposure into these spaces. A strong bond between the exterior and exterior is created.

The south face of the volume integrates a translucent glazed entrance portal into an otherwise closed exterior. This element announces the entrance to arriving visitors while providing privacy to the interior and garden views.

On level two, a projecting, lightweight volume slides over the ground-floor concrete plinth and extends into the parking and service area. It is supported by thin steel columns and acts as a gateway to the house, providing coverage for the main entrance and parking area of the house.

This upper volume is bent towards the Northeast to provide morning daylight and landscape views to the sleeping quarters.

A freestanding stair tower connects both levels and provides an acoustic barrier between the floors.
