Located in the historic town of Eisleben, the federal tax office building sits atop a sloping hill overlooking the valley.
A dark shale base containing most of the public areas takes the shape of the existing topography and provides a level plinth for the upper floors. A large carve out identifies the building’s main entry.
Consisting of modular offices and conference rooms, the top floors are fully glazed and follow the site curvature. This four story three sided volume rotates to face the train station and capture the southern exposure maximizing daylight into the offices.
The building’s main volume’s Northern and Western exposures feature a rain-screen facade clad in fiber-cement panels that complement the glass and aluminum façade. Punch windows frame views of the valley and the surrounding town.
